My Thoughts on ‘Mania

It was a mixed bag but i enjoyed it. The backstage segments were good and at some points funny. The Rock/Stone Cold stare down was great. Lets go through it, match by match
Edge/Del Rio. Wow did that miss the mark! Odd decision to put it on first and then the crowd seemed totally not behind it at all. It felt less like a title match at ‘Mania and more like a non title smackdown match. Also Edge’s ‘submission maneuver’ looks like he fell over trying to put on a sharpshooter and looks like it doesn’t hurt at all. Lame
Rhodes/Mysterio was quite enjoyable, considering i don’t watch Smackdown it really got my involved. Although Mysterio who to me is the ‘all Mexican Mexican’ (Sorry Swagger, Gimmick infringement) dressed at Captain America? Doesnt work in my books. But a pretty decent match and Cole and Lawler arguing added another level to it as well.
The Corre/Big Slow, Kane, Marella and Kofi Kingston. To be this didnt even get started before it finished. Not impressed WWE!
Punk/Orton. One of the better matches on the card, Orton sold the knee injury really well. Disappointing ending though, i mean it’s not like we see that every week Randal!
Cole/Lawler. What can you say about this? Cole has some lame ass tattoos. Lawler did himself proud, he’s a legend and totally deserves all the praise he gets. JR coming back makes me realise how much i miss him being there in general. And Stone Cold? He’s just Stone Cold. Awesome.
I was somehow totally drawn in and at the same time disappointed with HHH vs Taker. It was one spot after the other but with no real wrestling involved, i guess i should have expected that from a ‘No Holds Barred’ match. They both clearly gave it their all. ‘Taker getting up gets slower and slower in every match, i hope the end was kayfabe to justify him disappearing for a long time again. If it’s not then he really has pushed himself too far this time.
The Trish match was ok. Whoever that Snooki person is, she didnt do too badly for a non-wrestler (Compared to Cole she’s Ric Flair). Trish gets hotter i swear, damn. JoMo and Mr Ziggles might as well have not shown up, or Layla for that matter. Although I do have the hots for Layla, so we’ll let her off.
The Main Event
Cena/Miz. Two great intros and entrances. The match i’m not sold on, Miz has proved himself to be ‘awesoooome’ but there was something a bit flat about it. And the ‘ending’ sucked. The real ending was great but not exactly unexpected. I hope Rock doesn’t disappear now though, they’ve built it up enough for him to stick around i hope
